OR Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD)

OCCD promotes professional development to achieve high quality care and education for children and youth, and creates and supports training and education.
National Child Care Information and Technical Assistance Center (NCCIC)
The National Child Care Information and Technical Assistance Center (NCCIC), a service of the Child Care Bureau, is a national clearinghouse and technical assistance (TA) center that provides comprehensive child care information resources and TA services to Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Administrators and other key stakeholders.
National Association for the Education of Young Children
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. NAEYC is committed to becoming an increasingly high performing and inclusive organization.
Department of Education
The challenges now facing public education are fundamentally different from the past. Not only has our country left its agrarian past and experienced changes in its industrial organization, but the structure of families and the demographics of the United States’ population have changed dramatically as well. These changes in the country’s basic economic and family unit structures are generating significant consequences for the process of public education in this state and across the nation. If we are to revitalize the institution of public education to meet the challenges of the 21st Century resulting in lifelong learning, the following beliefs should guide our goals and actions.
Oregon ASK
The national network of statewide afterschool networks brings together established statewide afterschool networks in their collective mission to build partnerships and policies that are committed to the development and sustainability of quality afterschool programs. These partnerships – funded through the support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation – are focused on actively engaging key decision makers in support of school-based/school-linked afterschool programs, particularly in underserved communities. Currently 40 statewide afterschool networks are funded to coordinate and influence the systems that support the success of children and young people.

QRIS
Oregons quality rating and improvement system is a program that raises the quality & consistency of child care and early learning programs across the state. QRIS recognizes, rewards, and builds on what early learning and development programs are already doing well. Being apart of the QRIS helps ensure children for kindergarten readiness by connecting programs and providers with free tools, financial incentives and professional advice that they can put into practice with confidence.
Early Head Start
Child development and family support services are avaliable for children ages 3-5 who are low income or meet eligibility requirements and reside in the East Multnomah County outside of Portland Public Schools.
ASQ
For chidren between the ages birth-6 years parents and caregivers can use the ASQ questionnaires to check a child’s general development. The results help determine if a child’s development is on schedule.
